The 2021, Friend of the Fair . . . .
The Whiteside County Fair Board is pleased to announce that our 2021 Friend of the Fair is William McKinney Fickling, better known in Whiteside County as “Corndog Billy.”
Billy and his family hail from Hughes Springs, Texas, which he says is the corndog capital of the world. Billy has been coming to our fair, which he describes as “wonderful,” for 30+ years! It is a pleasure to honor him with this title at our 150th Fair. Billy is a friend of many here in Whiteside County, and he is best known for his big smile and radiant personality, as well as the tasty treats he brings to the Fair. His kindness is appreciated by all, and working with him over the years has been a privilege.
Billy’s love for the Whiteside County Fair stems from “all of the nice people here,” and he says our fairgrounds is “one of the prettiest fairgrounds” he gets to work on. He also shared that when he gets to Morrison, he and his family feel like they are at home. Billy and his family say that they are grateful to be a big part of our fair, but those of us who have munched on a corndog, enjoyed a lemonade shakeup, or indulged in a funnel cake can agree that we are just as grateful for Billy and his family.
The Whiteside County Fair Board would like to thank Billy for all the wonderful, fun-filled years, and we look forward to many more!
